Basic Uniform Requirements

For your own peace of mind, contact a member of the Rifles before purchasing any gear, as there are so many variations on the market today, it's easy to throw a lot of cash into starting a collection you didn't want. By seeing what we use (and reading these pages), you won't waste any resources.

As soon as I can get the camera working, I'll get some pics here.

Note: Those items required for beginners are noted with an asterisk!

Insignia for the Rifles consists, in this instance, of a shoulder title, beret badge, and qualification and rank badges.

The shoulder title is black embroidered text on a dark (Rifle) green wool backing, and states "Royal Ulster Rifles." The unit is having reproductions made; if you can find originals and wish to wear them, more power to you. You'll need one for each shoulder, along with Pegasus patches and Airborne strips, as seen in the picture below.

The beret badge is visible on the home page, between the Pegasus patches. The Coy. is working on having reproductions of the cap badge made, but if you can find originals, go for it! Otherwise, check with the insignia providers listed in the Quartermaster links.

The only other insignia all members should have is the Glider Qualification badge, which are also being reproduced, on the right sleeve only (in the same position as the "Warrant Officer Class II rank insignia," below).

The Denison smock should have no insignia save rank (if required), on the right sleeve only, positioned as below.

All other insignia a member wishes to wear will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis with Coy. OC.
