If you’ve been surfing our site this week, you may have noticed that we have a new product section, Vintage. We’ve begun this section in response to our World War 2 reenactor friends and swing dance pals who have trouble finding the right clothing for their hobbies. It’s all fine if you want to do a uniformed impression, but finding civilian clothing for the 1940s is tough.
Luckily your intrepid blogger here is CRAZY about clothing from the 30s and 40s. I’ve finally gathered enough resources together to present them to you.
Over the next few months, many items will be added to this section, from lingerie to hairstyling gizmos to accessories and ready-made clothing. Some of the items will be tru vintage pieces and some will be “vintage look” items that we have compared to vintage pieces and vetted ourselves. Never fear — Vintage and “Vintage Look” will always be carefully marked so you are 100% sure of your purchase. And as always, we stand behind everything we sell.
The first item on our new product section are these lovely stockings. Available in regular with black Cuban heels or ultra sheer with nude Cuban heels and keyhole welts, these “Vintage Look” stockings are as close to 1930s and 40s stockings as you can get without buying new old stock. What’s more, you don’t have to worry about ruining them when you wear them out dancing. There will always be more where these came from!
“Vintage” isn’t restricted to the 1930s and 40s. In our travels, we’ll be sourcing items from the Roaring Twenties, the Titanic Teens, the Gay Nineties… as far back as we find things! So if you love vintage, now RH is the place to shop for all the eras you love.
I don’t want my pre-20th century fans to think I’ve deserted them! There will still be plenty of Medieval through Victorian stuff coming from RH in 2010 too.
